3) Allagash Lake and Allagash Stream upstream from Allagash Lake to the T8R15 Twp. line (A.W.W. boundary): From Apr. 1 to May 31: Only artificial lures with one hook - single-pointed hook or a treble hook - allowed. All brook trout caught must be released alive at once. Daily limit on togue: 1 fish, Daily limit on whitefish: 3 fish; From June 1 to Sept. 30: Only artificial lures with one hook - a single-pointed hook or a treblehook - allowed. Daily limit on trout and togue: 1 of each; Daily limit on whitefish; 3 fish. Minimum length limit on trout: 18 inches.

4) Allagash River (including Round Pond, T13R12) and all tributaries (except No. 2 above): Aug. 16 to Sept. 30: Artificial lures only; Total daily bag limit for salmon, trout and togue: 1 fish. 5) General Law provisions apply to fishing in all other waters within the Allagash Waterway. Watercraft Restrictions (Summary): No restrictions on watercraft motor size from south end of Telos Lake to north end of Chamberlain Lake. From Lock Dam north, only canoes with or without motors may be used; no notors over 10 horsepower. On Allagash Lake and Allagash Stream to red posts at Chamberlain Lake, only canoes without motors may be used. (B) From Ripogenus Dam downstream to the Telos Road Bridge: from Apr. 1 to Sept. 30: fly fishing only; minimum length limit on salmon: 26 inches.
(C) From the Telos Road Bridge downstream to the red posts at the head of Debsconeag Falls. From Apr. 1 to Aug. 15, only artificial lures with one hook - single-pointed hook or a treble hook - allowed; daily limit on salmon: 18 inches. From Aug. 16 to Sept. 30, fly fishing only; daily limit: 1 salmon or 1 trout; minimum length on salmon: 18 inches.
(D) From the red posts at the head of Debsconeag Falls downstream to Ambajejus Lake: General Law Regulations.
(E) Smelts may be taken by dipnet from the northeast bank of the river in the area between Ambajejus Lake and Passamagamet Lake. Closed to the taking of smelts from midnight to noon each day.

SPECIAL REGULATIONS FOR OPEN WATER FISHING On the following counties, waters which have exceptions to the General Law are listed. In most cases, the exception will be one of the codes listed below and may affect only a portion of the regulations that govern that particular body of water, i.e., only the bag limit on salmon is different from the General Law in which case it would read as follows: Smith Pond, Anytown. S-22. All other provisions of general law would apply.
  • S-1: Closed to the taking smelts.
  • S-2: Closed to the taking of smelts, except by hook and line.
  • S-3: Tributaries closed to the taking of smelts.
  • S-4: Use or possession of live fish as bait is prohibited. (The use of dead fish, salmon eggs, worms is permitted).
  • S-5: Fly fishing only.
  • S-6: Artificial lures only.
  • S-7: Boundary waters with New Brunswick. SEE BOUNDARY WATERS BETWEEN MAINE AND NEW BRUNSWICK
  • S-8: Daily bag limit on trout: 1 fish.
  • S-9: Border waters with New Hampshire.
  • S-10: Daily bag limit on togue: 1 fish.
  • S-11: Daily bag limit on salmon, trout & togue: 2 fish in the aggregate.
  • S-12: No size or bag limit on bass and pickerel.
  • S-13: No size or bag limit on bass.
  • S-14: Daily bag limit on salmon, trout and togue: 3 fish in the aggregate, not to include more than 2 salmon, 2 trout, 2 togue.
  • S-15: From April 1 to June 20, daily bag limit on bass: 2 fish; all bass longer than 12 inches must be released; from June 21 to September 30, daily bag limit on bass: 2 fish between 10 and 12 inches except that 1 may exceed 16 inches.
  • S-16: Daily bag limit on brook trout (includes splake): 2 fish; minimum length limit: 12 inches, only 1 may exceed 14 inches.
  • S-17: Daily bag limit on brook trout (includes splake): 2 fish; minimum length limit: 10 inches, only 1 may exceed 12 inches.
  • S-18: Daily bag limit on brook trout (includes splake): 2 fish; minimum length limit: 8 inches.
  • S-19: Daily bag limit on trout: 2 fish.
  • S-20: Daily bag limit on whitefish: 3 fish.
  • S-21: Minimum length limit on trout: 12 inches.
  • S-22: Daily bag limit on salmon: 1 fish.
  • S-23: Open to fishing October 1 - October 31; artificial lures only; all fish caught must be released alive at once.
  • S-24: Open to fishing October 1 to November 30; all trout, landlocked salmon, togue and bass must be released alive at once.
  • S-25: Smelts may be taken by use of 3 single-baited hooks spaced a minimum of four inches apart.
