Some of the lakes connect to each other by thoroughfares, making it possible in the summer to lake-hop in a small boat! In the
spring, the area comes alive as the leaves come in and wildlife returns. You can enjoy hiking, boating, fishing, family get-togethers, or just getting away. As summer arrives, there are trails for riding ATVs, biking, kayaking, canoeing, nature walks, family reunions, golfing, and swimming. As summer winds down, fall offers warm days and cool, crisp nights and great 'sleeping weather'. The leaves blaze bright reds, yellows and oranges that make fall foliage trips a must. Cross Lake offers direct trail access to ITS83, an interconnecting trail system that covers the entire northern part of Maine. The huge amounts of annual snowfall in the 'County' offer those who enjoy snowshoeing plenty of ground to cover, and alpine and cross country skiers trails to ski. If year-round outdoor fun is your thing, northern Maine is the place to be.
